Dolly Parton rejects Princess Kate middleton’s Tea invitation In London
Dolly Parton disclosed that on her recent work trip, she had the Chance to meet Princess Kate middleton in person across the pond.
During a recent appearance on BBC Radio 2, Parton, 77, admitted, “I even received an invitation to join Kate for tea this time, but regrettably, I couldn’t make it.” I thought it was incredibly considerate and kind of her to extend the invitation, and I’m hoping that someday I’ll have the chance to make that happen – it would be truly wonderful, the author said.
In a playful tone, Parton quipped, “However, her offer didn’t include promoting my rock album, so I had to decline.”
While Kate, 41, has shared tea with various high-profile celebrities like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Parton expressed her gratitude for the royal invitation. Yet, she admitted that she lacked the time to engage in sightseeing during her visit.
I adore the people and the atmosphere of London, she gushed. “Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of chances to explore. There have been instances in the past when my band and I have ventured out in a tour bus, but only when we’ve meticulously planned it.”
This occasion wasn’t the first instance of Parton crossing paths with members of the royal family. In 1977, she graced the stage at the Silver Jubilee for the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at the age of 96 in September 2022 after reigning over England for an impressive 70 years.
I was concerned that I wouldn’t bend properly or perform the curtsy correctly. However, [the queen] was incredibly warm, wonderfully kind, and her generous nature was evident,” Parton reminisced during an interview with Insider in February. “Meeting the queen of England, having the chance to meet a monarch, was truly remarkable.”
After the queen’s passing, Parton received the honor of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in December 2022. Even though she initially felt unworthy of the recognition and considered removing herself from consideration, the honor served as an “inspiration” for her to fulfill her long-standing dream of creating a rock album.
In May, Parton transformed her aspirations into reality by announcing her upcoming rock album, set to release in November.
“I am brimming with enthusiasm as I unveil my debut Rock and Roll album, titled ‘Rockstar’,” Parton proclaimed through a statement on her website during that period. “I view it as a tremendous honor and privilege to have collaborated with some of the most exceptional musicians and vocalists in history. Delivering these iconic songs across the album has brought me immeasurable delight. It is my aspiration that everyone garners as much pleasure from the album as I did while assembling its pieces.”
