Fans of Taylor Swift can now hear her speak once more thanks to the new version of her 2010 single, “Speak Now.”
After the painful fallout from the sale of her original master recordings in 2020, Swift decided to rerelease the album as “Taylor’s Version,” making it the third in her catalogue to do so. (It is preceded by “Fearless” and “Red”).
About Taylor Swift
The youngest artist to ever win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year was a 20-year-old American singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy Award winner Taylor Alison Swift. Swift received the 2011 Woman of the Year award from Billboard. Among many other honors, she was also selected the Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards and the Entertainer of the Year by the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. She is currently the most successful digital artist in music history.
Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to financial advisor Scott Kingsley Swift and former marketing professional Andrea (Finlay). When she was 12 years old, a computer repairman demonstrated how to play three chords on a guitar, which gave her the idea for her debut song, “Lucky You.” Her poem “Monster in My Closet” had previously won a national poetry competition, but she started concentrating on songwriting now. At the age of 14, she relocated to Nashville after signing an artist development contract with RCA Records.
She left RCA Records when she was 15 because the record company wanted her to record other people’s songs and hold off on releasing an album until she was 18 but she felt ready to start her career with her material. At an industry showcase held at Nashville’s The Bluebird Café in 2005, Swift caught the attention of Scott Borchetta, a Dreamworks Records executive who was preparing to create his own independent record company, Big Machine Records. Taylor was one of the first musicians the new label signed.
In October 2006, Taylor released her debut album, “Taylor Swift,” to generally favorable reviews from music reviewers. The New York Times called it “a small masterpiece of pop-minded country, both wide-eyed and cynical, held together by Ms. Swift’s firm, pleading voice” Her single “Our Song” made her the youngest solo writer and vocalist of a #1 country hit. In its first week, the record sold 39,000 copies. In 2008, her “Fearless” second studio album was released. Released as the album’s debut single in September 2008, “Love Story” peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to become the second best-selling country single of all time.
Throughout 2008 and 2009, four more singles—”White Horse,” “You Belong with Me,” “Fifteen,” and “Fearless”—were made available. With a peak of #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, “You Belong with Me” was the album’s most successful single. On the Billboard 200 Album Chart, the album debuted at number one. It was the best-selling album of 2009 and was a huge crossover hit for Swift.
When “You Belong with Me” won Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September, she made history as the first country music performer to get the honor. Ye, a rapper who had been engaged in several past award show scandals, stopped her as she was giving her victory speech. West referred to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” music video as “one of the best videos of all time” and it was nominated in the same category. Taylor was summoned onstage by Beyoncé to complete her speech when she later won the Video of the Year award.
Taylor Swift was one of just six women and the youngest artist ever to win the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award in November 2009.She self-penned every song on her third studio album, “Speak Now,” which was released in October 2010. The CEO of her record company, Scott Borchetta, believed that the title “Enchanted,” which she had initially planned to use, would not adequately convey the album’s more mature themes. Swift performed on tour in support of “Speak Now” from late 2011 to early 2012.
In the course of her 111-show global tour, which lasted 13 months, Swift performed seven times in Asia, 12 times in Europe, 80 times in North America, and 12 times in Australasia (three of her US tour dates had to be rescheduled due to her bronchitis). The theatrical production, which featured coordinated routines, extravagant set elements, pyrotechnics, and frequent costume changes, was influenced by Broadway musical theatre. Released on October 22, 2012, “Red” is Swift’s fourth studio album. Of the 16 tracks on the album, she composed nine by herself and the other seven alongside Max Martin, Liz Rose, Dan Wilson, Ed Sheeran, and Gary Lightbody.
Representatives from 72 international radio stations were flown to Nashville during release week as part of the “Red” advertising campaign for one-on-one interviews with Swift.
She had television appearances on Good Morning America (1975), The View (1997), The Late Show with David Letterman (1993), ABC News Nightline (1980), The Ellen DeGeneres Show (2003), and All Access Nashville with Katie Couric (2012). She performed at the London Teen Awards and the Los Angeles MTV VMAs, and she will also play at the CMA Awards in Nashville, the Frankfurt MTV Europe Music Awards, the Los Angeles AMA Awards, and the Sydney ARIA Music Awards. (Pop and worldwide radio) “I Knew You Were Trouble”Swift has sold over 23 million albums and 54.5 million digital singles globally over her career as of May 2012.
Taylor Swift voiced Audrey in the animated film The Lorax (2012), which marked the start of her career as an actor. Additionally, she appeared in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation from 2000 as well as the theatrical movie Valentine’s Day (2010). “Safe & Sound featuring The Civil Wars” and “Eyes Open” are two of her original songs that were included on The Hunger Games (2012) soundtrack. On October 27, 2014, Taylor released her fifth studio album, “1989”.
She finally fully transitioned from country to pop with this album. She declares that she won’t be attending any Country Music Awards ceremonies. The album, which bears her birth year as its title, has an ’80s-influenced sound in that it is more electronic. She met Scottish Disc Jockey Calvin Harris at the Brit Awards in February, and they started dating in March. They spent thirteen months together.
